Free A4 Kanken Answer Sheets and Kanji Practice in English

This page provides free printable A4 answer-sheet PDFs for selected levels of the Japan Kanji Aptitude Test, commonly called the Kanji Kentei or Kanken. You can use the sheets with a Kanken practice book or your own kanji questions when you want to repeat a test without writing in the book.

How to download and print an answer sheet

  1. Find your Kanken grade in the table below.
  2. Select “Open PDF” in the A4 answer-sheet column. A green button means that a sheet is available.
  3. Open the PDF and print it on A4 paper. For the intended layout, choose Actual size or 100% in the print settings.

The PDF contains a blank answer form only; it does not include exam questions or an answer key. Levels marked “In preparation” do not yet have a downloadable sheet. These independently prepared sheets are for personal study and are not official materials of the Japan Kanji Aptitude Testing Foundation.
